When students are actively searching for jobs or internships, they often focus on specific companies and professional contacts. The Target Employers and Target Contacts features allow students to manage these preferences within 12twenty.
Target Employers
When a student selects a company as a "Target Employer," this entry is sent to the administrator's Pending Employers list. The student must type in the name or select from the drop-down and add "Add To Target Employers".
If the employer has not been added too the site yet, the employer will come in for approval under Company notifications. The admin has the option to either:
- Approve the employer, moving it to the Approved Employers list.
- Reject the employer, shifting it to the Rejected Employers list.
Note: Rejecting an employer does not remove it from the student’s list; it simply prevents the company from appearing in the employer directory.
Target Contacts
Students will be able to add a "Target Contact" for a company. On this tab, they can select "Add Contact" to add a new contact, or "Research Contacts" to review the list of contacts already available on the site.
When a student enters a "Target Contact," it does not pass through an approval phase for admins and is also not visible in the Contact Directory. It is only available to the student on their Target Contact list.

The employer will remain on the student’s list even if you reject it. Rejection only prevents the company from being added to the official employer directory, not the student's personal target list.

Will students receive notifications when they target an employer or when a job is posted by that employer?
At this time, students do not receive notifications when a job is posted by a target employer. The Target Employers list is a tool for organization and focus on during their job search, not a notification system.
