We’ve expanded the set of available substitution tags (also known as merge tags) for ad-hoc emails sent to students from the Student Directory and student-facing email templates across your 12twenty platform. These updates allow administrators to create more dynamic, personalized, and informative emails without needing to export data or use external email tools.

How Substitution Tags Work
Substitution tags act as placeholders that automatically pull personalized data from a student’s profile. For example, using {{PreferredName}} in an email will replace the tag with the student’s preferred name, and the {{PreferredIndustryList}} will include their industry preferences when the message is sent.
Example:
Email Body:
Hello {{PreferredName}},
We're excited to tell you about new opportunities in your preferred industries:
{{PreferredIndustryList}}
Student Sees:
Hello Alex,
We're excited to tell you about new opportunities in your preferred industries:
• Consulting
• Technology
