If your university participates in a Reciprocity program, which is an agreement between various universities that allows students from other schools to access their resources and/or 12twenty site instance, you'll want to follow these steps to provide access to these students who do not attend your school.
Creating User Accounts for Reciprocity Students
- You will need to create user accounts for reciprocity students in a similar way as you would add new students from your own university to the site. If you don't have a user role created for a Reciprocity user type, start by creating a new student user role to assign to any Reciprocity students. Go to Site Management > Manage Users > Students & Alumni > Add New User Role. You can customize which areas of the site you'll provide access to these users. Some schools may provide access to OCI and Jobs, but not Appointments, or only Jobs and not OCI - you can configure this access to whatever levels you've agreed to provide to Reciprocity students.
- Next, you'll want to manually create the new student accounts by navigating to Site Management > Manage Users > Students & Alumni > Users and creating the new users. Be sure to assign them to the new User Role you just created so they have proper access to the site. You'll also want to add them to Student Groups to allow visibility to Appointments, OCI and Jobs, and other modules that you plan to allow access to within the site.
For more information on creating new user accounts, you can read this article about Manually Adding Students to Your Platform.
- When you send the student login page to these Reciprocity students, you should instruct them to select the "Sign Up for an Account" option at the bottom of the login window. Even though you have created an account for them already through Manage Users, they will still need to use the "Sign Up for an Account" button on their first login to set a custom password.
